Hierarchies, maps and symbol libraries
Electrical schematic symbol library
Schematic symbols on one sheet: sources, switches, protection and loads as drawn in electrical documentation.
network.basic@1New DDN source
Why use it?
Electrical reviews fail on ambiguous glyphs; the sheet fixes the project vocabulary.
When it helps
Reference while drawing or reviewing single-line and schematic diagrams.
How to read it
- Symbols are labelled by function; connection points are where wires attach in a real schematic.
- Read the sheet alongside the ladder chapter for the logic view of the same domain.
What you need
- None — this is a reference sheet
Things to check
- Do not mix IEC and ANSI glyph families on one drawing.
- A symbol without terminal points cannot be wired — decoration is not connection.
Scope of this diagram
Common-practice schematic symbols for documentation; standards certification of the set is not claimed.
Work with the converted example

sch. Inspect the rendered view and its source. - Open the designer. Keep the selected profile and inspect its legal palette and property controls.
- Change one displayed title or an appropriate data value. Apply the edit and check the resulting diagram.
- Run the verifier and review its diagnostics before moving complete content into review.
- Download your edited DDN source to retain the change.
The example uses the indentation-based ddn-next-1 dialect. The language guide explains reusable definitions, dotted data rows and explicit property blocks.
