Calendar-ordered time-series
A series on a real calendar axis: dates are data, spacing is honest.
chart.basic@1New DDN source
Why use it?
Equal spacing for unequal time gaps is the most common chart lie; the calendar axis removes it.
When it helps
Anything timestamped: metrics, events, activity.
How to read it
- Gaps on the axis are gaps in time, not missing pixels.
- Read the timezone note before comparing days.
What you need
- The timestamps
- The values
- The timezone of the records
Things to check
- Do not resample silently — the axis shows what was recorded.
- Do not compare series on different time axes.
Scope of this diagram
Declared timestamps and bounded marks; no forecasting.

The example uses the indentation-based ddn-next-1 dialect. The language guide explains reusable definitions, dotted data rows and explicit property blocks.
